Members celebrate 60th birthday of Gins Clubhouse with 50’s themed party 7th September
RSYC has had a clubhouse at Gins on the Beaulieu River for 60 years.Â
Members celebrated the anniversary with a 60s themed party at the clubhouse, which had been superbly decorated by Jen Standley, on Saturday 7 September which also formed part of the postponed Beaulieu Regatta weekend.
Guests enjoyed a stunning grill meal with choice of meat fish and vegetarian dishes, including ribeye, monkfish or tuna steaks amongst other items. The bar saw brisk business as members found their dancing shoes and hit the floor to a succession of 60s  hits played by Dan the Disco man. Many members got into the spirit with some flambouyant outfits!
RSYC Trust was the beneficiary of a charity auction which raised nearly £2,000. The star lot being a private 3 course dinner to be cooked by our hugely talented chef Albin, accompanied by matched wines, presented and paired by General Manager Stuart Earp. This saw competitive bidding and comfortably exceeded the reserve eventually going for £1,100. Â
A splendid way to mark the anniversary
Many thanks to Stuart for organising, Albin for cooking and Jen Standley for sorting out all the decorations. Â
Happy Birthday Gins!!!!
Gins Kayak Safari 25th August
7 people on kayaks went along the river towards the Solent, easy, until we turned around and had 20+ knots on the nose. Thanks to Will for leading the group and James for rescuing one of the kayakers at the begining.
We would love to do it again – Karen Baker
Gins Staff Appreciation Day 2nd September
Gin’s Staff Day Outing – Swimming – Sailing – Eating and Drinking! Â
Yesterday, for our staff appreciation day, we were kindly taken out by Richard Colegrave and Trevor Watson, for a day of sailing, eating, swimming and good laughs. We started the day with bacon sandwiches on their boats, before we began our sail to the Isle of Wight. We all had the opportunity to learn a bit more about sailing and what our members get up to out on the water. We got involved with hoisting and dropping the sails, steering and, of course, having a few drinks on board! We arrived at East Cowes and had a lovely chat over lunch at the Island Sailing Club. Following lunch, we mooched around town for half an hour and took in the sights. Once we were back on the boats we headed back toward Gins, but made a pit stop for an all important swim. The sun wasn’t shining quite as much as we hoped throughout the day, but we warmed up with a competitive game of GoFish and hot chocolate below deck, before we moored back at the walk ashore pontoon. All in all we all had a great day relaxing as a team and learning more about sailing. We want to say a massive thank you to the committee for organizing the day and can’t wait for the next one.
