MDL Winter Series 2018

Races 7 and 8 on 25th November concluded the MDL Winter Series and the RSYC's 2018 racing season. (See the Results and reports page for full results.)

Don't forget that our next racing starts again on 6th January with races 1 and 2 of the Frostbite Series.

Race 7

After a gloomy start, Sunday's weather turned out to be better than we might have expected from the forecast. With a (more or less steady) wind from the NE, race 7 started on the Fawley shore SE of mark 7N 'Royal Southampton' on a flood tide and finished NW of that mark.

'Magec' took line honours but finished behind 'Domaine' on corrected time with 'Glass Onion'  in third place.

Race 8

Conditions were similar but the wind was a little less stable for the start of Race 8. Once again the course cascaded up the flooding tide, this time leading to a finish on the Marchwood Yacht Club who'd also kindly agreed to host our Series prize giving.

This time it was 'Azygos' who was first over the line, closely followed by 'Jos of Hamble'' and then 'Magec'.

Behind them was the J-92 'Jackdaw'

Next came 'Domaine' who'd decided to pick a fight with their kite ...

Sixth over the line was the SB20 'Dark and Stormy'

and seventh came 'Aura'

White Heather was eigth over the line and on this occasion, 'Glass Onion' brought up the rear.

On corrected time Race 8 was won by Domaine, with Jackdaw second and Azygos third.
