Preparing for Radio Controlled yachting

By Eddie Hill

The RC Section held a Workshop on March 24 at Ocean Village clubhouse, focussing on the 'new' Dragon Flite 95 - larger and more suited to GINS than the DF 65. An example is to be found in the entrance hall at OV.

Bryan Bird brought along his new 'B' and 'C' sail rigs for his DF 95 - but in kit form!
An interesting and sometimes frustrating time was had by all assembling these rigs but the lunch was excellent!.

The two club DF65 were got out of their cases, battery charged and RC functions checked out. One responded perfectly but the other had been put away with some sea water lying in the bottom of the hull. This 'attacked' the power supply cable plug and corroded it resulting in the battery now being US. It is very important to drain any water out of these boats before they a put away back into their cases. A small plug in the stern of the boats facilitates this.

We are looking forward to a good season sailing RC Yachts - come and give it a go!
