PHOTO COMPETITION 2009
YACHTER magazine and this website are anxious to share your creative photographic talent this summer. We are introducing a fresh Royal Southampton photo competition this spring to give members plenty of time to capture those un-forgettable moments of club activity. In tandem with the photo contest we will have a separate competition for Cruising members to produce the best Cruise Diary. For full details and Rules >>>more

I never cease to be surprised and pleased at the way in which our committees and helpers find the time and commitment to work so hard for this great Club of ours. This shows itself in the success of our racing events, our cruising events and our social events. The recent Biscay Challenge proved to be an outstanding example of offshore racing and reports from the competitors have given it a five star rating for organisation, taking it above many other well known races. Our cruising members are seen to be involved with all aspects of our sport, not least in working with blind and visually impaired sailors and wannabe sailors making a dream come true for so many.
On the social side both of our Clubhouses continue to hold great events that bring support from all of our sections.
I was recently privileged to visit one of our reciprocal clubs, The Royal Vancouver Yacht Club and welcomed by their Commodore Jim Burns whose wife Sarah hails from Sussex. I know that he, along with other Commodores of our reciprocal friends from around the world will always welcome visits from our members. Recent communications received from other Clubs include Hawaii as well as three from China who are all interested in making a connection with us… more details to follow.
May you all have fair winds wherever you go..
